BEC 2320 : Macroeconomics – Guest Lecture Series 2016

Department of Business Economics was able to successfully organize a guest lecture series under BEC 2320: Macroeconomics with the aim of introducing recent changes in the macroeconomic environment in Sri Lanka as a supplementary to the macroeconomic course module.

Thereby the first in the series was on “Monetary Policy in Sri Lanka” offered by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka which was held on 5th of April 2016 at the Main Auditorium of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. The objective of this guest lecture was to expose the undergraduates to the practical aspect of the monetary policy of the country. The following were the resource persons of the above event.

  1. Anil Perera, :

A senior economist attached to the Economic Research Department of Central Bank of Sri Lanka who currently serves as the Head of the Money and Banking Division

 

  1. Janaka Edirisinghe :

A senior economist attached to the Economic Research Department of Central Bank of Sri Lanka

The second guest lecture of the series were conducted by the Department of Census and Statistics on the recent introduction of a “New National Accounting Framework of Sri Lanka” on 5th of May 2016 at the Main Auditorium of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. It was aimed to expose the undergraduates to the most updated usage of theories learnt during the class room sessions where the following resource persons conducted the above guest lecture.
