Inauguration Ceremony of Postgraduate Programmes in Business Economics

The inauguration ceremony of the newly introduced postgraduate programmes in Business Economics was held on 23rd May 2020 from 7.00 pm onwards, virtually via Zoom. The ceremony marked the launch of two postgraduate programs, namely, Master of Business Economics: MBEc, and Master of Philosophy in Business Economics: MPhil (BEc) by the Department of Business Economics.

Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka delivered the keynote speech on the theme “Business Economics.” Moreover, two guest speeches were delivered by Mr. Rohana Wijesekera, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Mr. Nandika Buddhipala, Chief Financial Officer of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.

The participation of Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage, Acting Vice-chancellor of USJ, Dr. U. Anura Kumara, Dean of the FMSC, Heads of the Departments of the FMSC, Dr. Janaka Fernando, Coordinator of MBEc programme, Dr. Sumudu Perera, Coordinator of MPhil (BEc) programme, academic staff members of the FMSC and the two programmes, invitees from the industry, alumni members of the department of Business Economics and the students of the two programmes added colours to this ceremony.
