Signing MoU with Sheffield Hallam University, UK

The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) in UK for collaborative research. The MoU signed by Mr. James Richardson, Global Engagement Director at SHU was sent to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and signed by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sampath Amaratunge on 03rd of May 2018. This MoU was a result of previous academic collaborations of the Department of Decision Sciences and Dr. U Anura Kumara, Dean of the Faculty of management Studies and Commerce with Prof. Terence Perera in Materials and Engineering Research Institute of Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

The main purpose of this MoU is to undertake joint activities in relation to:

  • New programme development,
  • Student exchange, and
  • Research, conferences and seminars

in areas of operations and technology management, by the two institutions.

The Department of Decision Sciences will involve mainly in the collaborative activities proposed under the MoU, and Dr. Chathurani Silva, Senior Lecturer in that department is currently working as the coordinator.

The Department of Decision Sciences with the association of an internationally recognized academic institution that engages in research in related disciplines including management and optimization of operations, technology and supply chain, strives to improve its R&D competencies by focusing on these areas in final year students’ and staff’s research projects, and to expand industry collaborations by undertaking industry oriented research and consultancies.
