Snehadara 2019
As the great intellect Albert Einstein once said, “only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile” which underpins how momentous to empower the community of a nation to equip themselves in a manner that they could prosper the future of the country. Amplifying its magnitude, undergraduates of the Department of Finance of University of Sri Jayewardenepura extended their helping hand to rekindle the hopes of opulence. For the sixth consecutive time,under the guidance of Head of the department Dr.P.A.N.S.Anuradha and the other academic staff members, continuing the impactful CSR initiative titled “SNEHADHARA” budding professionals who intend to drive the future of Sri Lanka, shared moments of goodness with the underprivileged students of Ra/Handagiriya Vidyalaya, Balangoda.
Accordingly the project was commenced by making arrangements to install a new water line to ensure the access to clean water which was successfully executed on 28th July 2019. Having completed the inaugural phase the final phase of the project was conducted on 23rd & 24th August 2019 at the Ra/Handagiriya Vidyalaya premises that consisted of a series of donations addressing the varying needs of the students in different areas of learning. Among them the most demonstrative part was the gift of a “Computer Lab” that consists of seven computers with the intention of sharpening the IT literacy of the students and widening the access to the global flow of knowledge. It was a novel experience for the students and also the academic staff who acknowledged the fresh platform bearing a plenty of expectations in their minds.
The noble endeavour was further exercised as each student was received with a complete package of package of stationaries that comprised a school bag, water bottle, compass box/geometry set and exercise books sufficient for a year. Panorama was further broadened as the school library was donated with books written on various subject areas along with past paper sets in order do fine tune the exam oriented preparations. Project was successfully carried out under the as everyone who gathered at the occasion expressed their sincere gratitude for the enrichment provided. We, the Department of Finance of University of Sri Jayewardenepura along with the Students’ Association of Finance(SAF) are immensely thankful for everyone who contributed the 2019 edition of “SNEHADHARA” in various aspects to make the project an absolute success.
