Prof. Lalith Samarakoon revisits the Department of Finance
Prof. Lalith Samarakoon, one of the prime movers of the Department of Finance revisited the department on 23rd May 2016 after 16 years. Prof. Samarakoon is a Professor of Finance and Chair in the Department of Finance of Opus College of Business at University of St. Thomas in United States. He is also a renowned Financial Economist locally and internationally. On his visit to the department, Prof.Samarakoon presented one of his research papers on “Contagion of Eurozone debt crisis” to the academic staff of the Department of Finance and few other invited senior lectures from other departments of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. In addition to the research presentation, Prof.Samarakoon shared is observations on the Global trends in Business Education to aid the ongoing Curriculum development endeavors of the Department. Academic members actively participated on these sessions and also shared their view points and implications in adopting these global trends for the State University education in Sri Lankan context.
