Mr. Nadeeka Guruge, The Head of \u2018School of Music\u2019, Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC), Research University, Padukka, one of the most influential composers in Sri Lankan music, conducted a session on: \u2018Aesthetics for Life\u2019 under the Personal and Professional Development Programme offered for the second-year undergraduates of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka,on 18th<\/sup> October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that, aesthetics is a process, which brings happiness. He explained that, aesthetics exists not only in the modern world, but also in traditional society. He perceived Sri Lanka to be an unmusical nation. However, he stated that, students are now privileged to have access to technology to; listen to music, watch movies, and read novels. He advised students to refer to original writings when reading novels, as the meaning could be lost in translation. When listening to music, he emphasized the necessity of understanding the composer\u2019s mind to get the real feel of the composition. He reiterated the importance of using technology in a wise manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
