The conference was aligned with the <strong>20th International Conference on Business Management (ICBM) 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inauguration and Plenary Session<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference commenced with an inauguration ceremony held at the university premises, where <strong>Prof. W. Indralal De Silva<\/strong>, Professor Emeritus, Department of Demography, University of Colombo, delivered the <strong>Keynote Address<\/strong>. This was followed by the <strong>Plenary Session<\/strong>, which featured <strong>Mr. ByeongJo Kong<\/strong>, <strong>Digital Technology Specialist (Data Analytics &amp; Big Data)<\/strong> at the <strong>Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department, Asian Development Bank, Japan<\/strong>, as the <strong>Guest Speaker<\/strong>. His address provided valuable insights into the role of digital transformation in driving sustainable economic development, aligning closely with the conference theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Economic Forum<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A key highlight of the conference was the <strong>Economic Forum<\/strong>, held under the theme <em>\u201cLeveraging Digital Transformation for Economic Recovery.\u201d<\/em> The forum brought together a distinguished panel comprising:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mr. Chanuka Wattegama<\/strong> \u2013 Director (Policy), Information and Communication Technology Agency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dr. Vipula Wickramarachchi<\/strong> \u2013 Deputy Director, Economic Research Department, Central Bank of Sri Lanka<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mr. Kapila Karunaratne<\/strong> \u2013 Head of Delivery \u2013 Testing, Exactpro Sri Lanka<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mr. Sasitha Edirisinghe<\/strong> \u2013 Delivery Lead, Acuity Knowledge Partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The session was moderated by <strong>Dr. Ananda Rathnayake<\/strong> from the Department of Business Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Research Presentations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference featured the presentation of <strong>twenty-five (25)<\/strong> selected research abstracts by undergraduate and postgraduate students. These abstracts were published in the official proceedings of the conference, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of business and economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Concluding Remarks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As the 5th Annual Conference on Business Economics came to a close, the event successfully brought together researchers, professionals, and students, fostering meaningful dialogue on some of the most pressing issues in business and economic development today.
