We are delighted to share that our students and flagship student initiative, EconInsight, earned top recognition at the J\u2019PURA Employability Skills Awards 2025, bringing pride to the Department of Business Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to announce that Pawanya Balasooriya, a final-year undergraduate of the Department of Business Economics, has been awarded the Best Employability Skills Achiever (BESA) Award for the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BESA Award recognises the best of the best at the FMSC, celebrating those who excel across academics, extra-curricular activities, and leadership. Pawanya\u2019s versatility and outstanding all-round performance have earned her this prestigious recognition. We warmly congratulate her on this incredible achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our very own Anujini Perera, a final-year undergraduate, was placed Second Runner-Up for the same prestigious BESA Award. We extend our warmest congratulations to her on this well-deserved achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to this year\u2019s success, EconInsight 2025, the annual outreach initiative of the Business Economics Students\u2019 Association, was awarded Second Runner-Up for Best CSR Project. This recognition attests to the project\u2019s meaningful contribution and continued impact in supporting Advanced Level Economics education across Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We congratulate all the winners and thank them for bringing honour to the Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
