{"id":12925,"date":"2026-09-12T15:18:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T09:48:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mgt.sjp.ac.lk\/bec\/?p=12925"},"modified":"2026-09-12T15:18:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T09:48:45","slug":"global-opportunities-awareness-session-inspires-bec-students-to-explore-global-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mgt.sjp.ac.lk\/bec\/global-opportunities-awareness-session-inspires-bec-students-to-explore-global-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Opportunities Awareness Session Inspires BEC Students to Explore Global Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"background:#fff; border:1px solid #e5e5e5; border-radius:12px; padding:20px; margin-bottom:20px; line-height:1.7; color:#444; text-align:justify; font-family:Arial, sans-serif;\">\n\n  <p>As part of the <strong>BEC 3180 \u2013 Personal and Professional Development<\/strong> course, an engaging <strong>Global Opportunities Awareness Session<\/strong> was conducted by <strong>AIESEC in USJ<\/strong>, providing students with valuable insights into international volunteering, internships, global networking, and career development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n  <div style=\"background:#fafafa; border-left:4px solid #4E0205; border-radius:10px; padding:16px 18px; margin:18px 0; line-height:1.8;\">\n    <strong style=\"color:#4E0205;\">Date:<\/strong> 19th August 2020<br>\n    <strong style=\"color:#4E0205;\">Time:<\/strong> 8.00 p.m. \u2013 9.15 p.m.<br>\n    <strong style=\"color:#4E0205;\">Mode:<\/strong> Online<br>\n    <strong style=\"color:#4E0205;\">Conducted by:<\/strong> AIESEC in USJ\n  <\/div>\n\n  <p>The session introduced students to <strong>AIESEC<\/strong>, its extensive international network, and the range of opportunities available for young people to enhance their personal and professional development through international exposure.<\/p>\n\n  <p>The session was facilitated by two resource persons from AIESEC in USJ:<\/p>\n\n  <div style=\"background:#fafafa; border:1px solid #e5e5e5; border-radius:10px; padding:16px 18px; margin:18px 0;\">\n    <ul style=\"margin:0; padding-left:20px;\">\n      <li style=\"margin-bottom:8px;\"><strong>Ms. Sineli Thilakarathne<\/strong> \u2013 Local Committee Vice President for Outgoing Global Volunteer PS<\/li>\n      <li><strong>Ms. Vihangi Ranaweera<\/strong> \u2013 Local Committee Vice President for Outgoing Global Talent<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <p>The resource persons provided an informative overview of AIESEC and explained how university students can benefit from its global platform. Particular attention was given to <strong>global volunteering programmes and international internship opportunities<\/strong> available through AIESEC.<\/p>\n\n  <p>Students were introduced to how international projects are organized, the process of participating in projects across different countries, and the personal and professional competencies that can be developed through such experiences. The session highlighted the importance of strengthening <strong>communication, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and cross-cultural competencies<\/strong> in preparing students for an increasingly globalized employment environment.<\/p>\n\n  <p>A key focus of the session was the value of <strong>global networking and international exposure<\/strong>. Students learned how international experiences can provide opportunities to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, understand diverse perspectives, experience new cultures, and establish international connections that may support their future academic and career development.<\/p>\n\n  <p>An interactive <strong>question-and-answer session<\/strong> was also conducted, allowing students to clarify their concerns regarding international volunteering, internships, overseas projects, eligibility requirements, and participation opportunities. The resource persons also shared relevant contact information with students who expressed an interest in learning more about AIESEC programmes.<\/p>\n\n  <p>Overall, the <strong>AIESEC Global Opportunities Awareness Session<\/strong> provided students with a valuable introduction to international volunteering, global internships, cross-cultural networking, and international career opportunities. The session encouraged students to look beyond the traditional academic environment and actively explore opportunities that can broaden their perspectives, strengthen their employability skills, and contribute to their overall personal and professional growth.<\/p>\n\n  <p>The programme represented another important learning experience under <strong>BEC 3180 \u2013 Personal and Professional Development<\/strong>, supporting the Department&#8217;s commitment to preparing students to become confident, globally aware, and career-ready graduates.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure
