{"id":21,"date":"2016-01-30T06:08:23","date_gmt":"2016-01-30T06:08:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/com.mgt.sjp.ac.dev\/?page_id=21"},"modified":"2023-05-08T09:53:37","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T04:23:37","slug":"awards-and-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mgt.sjp.ac.lk\/com\/awards-and-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards and Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-2-3\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Professor Hema Wijewardena Gold Medal<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This medal was established in 1994 by Professor Hema Wijewardena, the founding Head of the Department, a former Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and a former Professor in Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.\u00a0 He was a Professor in Accounting and presently Honorary Principal fellow in the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Wollongong, Australia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prof. Hema Wijewardena medal is awarded annually at the university convocation to a student who obtains the highest overall GPA (Grade Point Average) among the First Class Division Pass in the B. Com. (Special) Degree Programme.\u00a0 The medal may be awarded to a student who obtains a Second Class (Upper Division) Pass with the highest overall GPA if there is no First Class Division Pass.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Hirdaramani Excellence Awards\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This Excellence Award is awarded annually by the Hirdaramani Group of Companies in memory of the late Mr. Bagawandas Hirdaramani and the late Mr. Nanda Hirdaramani, founder members of the Hirdaramani group. Awardees will receive a cash award and a certificate with effect from the year 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Excellence Award is presented to a student who obtains the,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Highest overall GPA in the B.Com (Special) Degree Part I &#8211; will receive the certificate and Rs.5,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Highest overall GPA in the B.Com (Special) Degree Part II &#8211; will receive the certificate and Rs.10,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Highest overall GPA in the B.Com (Special) Degree Part III &#8211;\u00a0 will receive the certificate and Rs.15,000<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Best Student Award<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In order to strengthen the main intention of the degree programme, the Department has decided to offer a best student award for each subject offers by the Department, effective from 01.01.2017. The students who enrolled the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree Programme are eligible to receive these awards. The students who take the highest mark for the Semester End Examinations of the following subjects offered by the Department of Commerce are selected as the best students. Accordingly, 18 students are eligible for receiving the best student award per academic year.
