Mr. Sachin Wijayasinghe, Lecturer (Probationary) delivered a talk on the topic of \u201cSmart Cities beyond Technology: Let\u2019s Stick to our Values\u201d at the TEDx USriJayewardenepura event on August 29, 2023, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Technology, USJ. The event was organized by the Invention and Venture Creation Council (IVCC) of the university.
TEDx is a series of independently organized events that share ideas worth spreading, in the spirit of TED Talks. TEDx USriJayewardenepura was the first of its kind in the university community, and Mr. Wijayasinghe was nominated as the faculty representative to deliver a talk on his expertise. In his talk, Mr. Wijayasinghe shared the view that smart cities should not be defined solely by their technological advancements. He emphasised the importance of human values such as compassion, cooperation, and respect in the development of smart cities. He emphasized the importance of incorporating values into managing smart cities along with a more holistic approach to urban planning and management of city operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
