The Department of Estate Management and Valuation has organized a field visit for the third-year undergraduate students of the B.Sc. (Honours) in Real Estate Management and Valuation degree programme, as part of the EMV 3375 \u2013 Agricultural Valuation course. The visit was conducted at St. Joachim Estate and Tea Factory, in collaboration with the Institute of Valuers of Sri Lanka and the TRI Low Country Research Advisory & Extension Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This field-based learning experience provided students with valuable first-hand exposure to tea plantation management, factory operations, and key components relevant to tea estate valuation. Through direct observation and engagement, students were able to relate theoretical knowledge to practical applications, particularly in areas such as land assessment, crop valuation, and the operational dynamics influencing agricultural property values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit served as an important platform for enhancing students\u2019 understanding of the agricultural real estate sector. It strengthened their analytical capabilities and offered deeper insights into the complexities associated with valuing plantation-based properties. Such experiential learning initiatives reflect the Department\u2019s continued commitment to delivering practice-oriented education that bridges academic knowledge with real-world industry practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
