The inauguration ceremony of Master Degree in Entrepreneurship Program 2015\/2017 was<\/h5>\n
successfully held on Saturday, 26th of September, 2015 from 4.00 p.m. onwards at Golden<\/h5>\n
Rose Recreation Complex, Boralesgamuwa.<\/h5>\n
Master Degree in Entrepreneurship Program is organized and conducted by the Department<\/h5>\n
of Entrepreneurship of Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce together with the<\/h5>\n
Faculty of Graduate Studies of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It intends to produce<\/h5>\n
professional entrepreneurs to the nation who are capable of revolutionizing the society<\/h5>\n
challenging the traditions through their creative and innovative capabilities. This course<\/h5>\n
presents followers an intense two year period of personal and professional transformation<\/h5>\n
which direct them for living a victorious life and empowering them to build a prosperous<\/h5>\n
motherland.<\/h5>\n
The inauguration ceremony was conducted to mark the commencement of third student<\/h5>\n
intake for the program with a selected batch of forty eight students. Prof. Sampath<\/h5>\n
Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Sagarika Ekanayake,<\/h5>\n
Acting Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Roshan Perera, Director \/ Professor in Bio<\/h5>\n
Chemistry, Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Scientific Research and Education, General<\/h5>\n
Sir John Kotelawala Defense University, Prof. Rohini Samarasinghe, Coordinator, Career<\/h5>\n
Guidance Unit, Dr. P.J Kumarasinghe, Coordinator, MBA\/MPM\/M.Sc. (Management)<\/h5>\n
Program, Dr. P.D Nimal Former Coordinator, MBA\/MPM\/M.Sc. (Management) Program,<\/h5>\n
Dr. A.R Ajward Senior Lecturer, Department of Accounting, Mr. Rukmal Weerasinghe ,<\/h5>\n
Head, Department of Entrepreneurship, Mr. Sudath Amarasena, Senior Lecturer Department<\/h5>\n
of Decision Sciences, academic staff of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Faculty of<\/h5>\n
Management Studies and Commerce, and the students of Master Degree in Entrepreneurship<\/h5>\n
program participated in this event.<\/h5>\n
Mr. Rukmal Weerasinghe, Head, Department of Entrepreneurship and the Coordinator<\/h5>\n
Master Degree in Entrepreneurship Program welcoming the gathering highlighted the need of<\/h5>\n
entrepreneurship education to Sri Lanka. He conveyed his gratitude to the initiator of the<\/h5>\n
program Mr. Shyaman Udayanga, Former Head, Department of Entrepreneurship for his<\/h5>\n
great service in designing and implementing this study concept to promote entrepreneurial<\/h5>\n
education in Sri Lanka. Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor, University of Sri<\/h5>\n
Jayewardenepura, and Prof. Sagarika Ekanayake, Acting Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies<\/h5>\n
and Dr. P.J Kumarasinghe, Coordinator, MBA\/MPM\/M.Sc. (Management) Program also<\/h5>\n
addressed the gathering stressing the importance of concept of entrepreneurship as an<\/h5>\n
emerging field of studies and how its practical implications helps to support a nation uplifting<\/h5>\n
both its economic and social standards. Prof. Roshan Perera, Director \/ Professor in Bio<\/h5>\n
Chemistry, Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Scientific Research and Education, General<\/h5>\n
Sir John Kotelawala Defense University delivered the key note address and shared his<\/h5>\n
experiences in their research contributions for adding value to traditional industries through<\/h5>\n
creativity and innovation.<\/h5>\n
Two students from previous batches namely Mr. Chandana Kumara, Managing Director,<\/h5>\n
Water Care Technologies (Pvt) Ltd and Mr. Chathuranga Kariawasam, Director -Roots<\/h5>\n
Global (Pvt) Ltd shared their experiences in Master Degree in Entrepreneurship Program and<\/h5>\n
showed how it has inspired them in their entrepreneurial careers. Ms. Yeshika Somarathne,<\/h5>\n
Assistant Coordinator of Master Degree in Entrepreneurship program delivered vote of<\/h5>\n
thanks and conveyed best wishes for the new entrants. Inauguration ceremony then was<\/h5>\n
followed by a cocktail and dinner.<\/h5>\n
