The 16th ICBM 2019 of Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC) was brought forth in collaboration with the Monash Business School, Australia and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA). The conference was held at FMSC, University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 28th November 2019 and at Caulfield Campus, Monash University, Australia from 11-14th December 2019. The collaboration is an outcome of the implementation of MoU signed between USJ and Monash University, Australia in 2017 in order to promote teaching and research.
The conference laid its emphasis on the theme; ‘Transforming Knowledge into Action: Towards Sustainable Development in Emerging Economies’. Extended Abstracts were invited on ten tracks: (i) Democratic Governance (ii) Human Resource Management (iii) Disaster Management (iv) Managing Sustainable Organisations (v) Supply Chain Management (vi) Organisation Studies (vii) Ethical Organisations (viii) Health Policy and Healthcare Management (ix) Spirituality and Management and (x) Entrepreneurship. These Research Tracks were managed by 2-3 Track chairs appointed by both University of Sri Jayewardenepura and University of Monash. Conference Co-Chairs of FMSC, University of Sri Jayewardenepura together with the Co-Chairs appointed by the University of Monash organized and managed the overall conference activities. Approximately 150 delegates from 15 countries participated in the ICBM 2019. From the 230 research papers received for the conference 192 research papers were accepted and presented in the conference.
ICBM 2019 inauguration held at Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka on 28thth November 2019 was graced by Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Dr. U. Anura Kumara, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Keynote Speaker Professor Felix Mavando (Monash University Australia) and Dr Lakmal Abeysekera (Monash University Australia). Seven (07) PhD candidates presented their extended abstracts in the PhD consortium and forty eight (48) research posters were presented in research poster session held at Faculty of management Studies and Commerce.
ICBM 2019 inauguration held at Caulfield Campus, Monash University, Australia on 12th December 2019 was graced by Mr. Kapila Fonseka (Consul General, Consulate General of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka), Dr U Anura Kumara (Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura), Professor Abid Khan (Monash University Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President-Global Engagement), Professor Gary Magee (Deputy Dean- Research, Monash Business School) and Keynote Speaker Professor Premachandra Athukorala, Australian National University Australia, Professor MM Pathmalal and Dr Pradeepa Jayewardene (Co-Chairs of Research Council, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka).
