The tradition of the Department of Finance is to host a special gathering to welcome our newly admitted batch of second-year undergraduates, which we have organized during the previous years as an annual event in the department calendar. Following departmental tradition, the official welcome and orientation of the second-year students of the department was successfully held on February 23, 2023, from 5.00 p.m. onwards at the K.A. Munasinghe Hall, with the aim of educating the newly admitted students about the department, in particular its history, philosophy, staff members, activities organized by the department, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The occasion was graced with the valuable presence and the thought provoking insights of Prof. P. D. Nimal, the dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Prof. Chandana Gunathilaka, Head, Department of Finance and other academic staff members graced this occasion with their participation. Prof. Chandana Gunathilaka, Snr. Prof. D. B. P. H. Dissa Bandara and Prof. K. L. W. Perera addressed the gathering by providing valuable inspirations to the new batch of second year students on various aspects including affiliations of the department with professional bodies and institutions, gold medals awarded by the department, student life and activities at the Department of Finance. Ms. Charyani Jayasekara, Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting at Nestle Lanka PLC addressed the gathering, and this was more effective as the presenter is an alumni member of the Department of Finance representing the first batch of the Department of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
