On September 11, 2024, the Research Center for Finance (RCF) of the Department of Finance at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura hosted an insightful research discussion on market microstructure and trading mechanisms<\/em><\/strong>. The RCF invited academics along with postgraduate and undergraduate students, to engage in this important dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was led by Dr. Priyantha Mudalige, an alumnus of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a Senior Lecturer at UNE Australia, and an expert in econometrics and finance. He presented an analysis of the stock market\u2019s microdata, manipulations, and the changes in sentiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Chandana Gunathilaka, Head of the Department of Finance, warmly welcomed Dr. Mudalige and emphasized the department’s recent advancements in research activities. Prof. Gunathilaka also highlighted the significance of fostering international research collaborations to drive future progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is part of the department\u2019s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with international scholars, with plans to pursue further collaborative research opportunities with Dr. Mudalige in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
