On November 5, 2024, an awareness session was held at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to introduce a remarkable scholarship opportunity for undergraduates of the Department of Finance. Through the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), 100 scholarships for the Certificate in Ethical Artificial Intelligence<\/strong><\/em> course are now available to support students in developing essential skills at the forefront of finance and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session, held at the Senate Boardroom, commenced with an address from Prof. Chandana Gunathilaka, Head of the Department of Finance, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to academic and professional excellence. Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, emphasized the importance of holistic development\u2014intellectual and ethical\u2014in the modern professional landscape. Prof. Dushan also expressed gratitude to Mr. Michael Fernandopulle, Country Head for CISI Sri Lanka, and his team for their collaborative efforts to support Sri Lankan higher education and recognize its value on an international stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following these remarks, Mr. Michael Fernandopulle provided an insightful presentation on CISI’s role and global contributions to the financial services industry. He elaborated on CISI\u2019s wide-ranging qualifications and emphasized the impact of the Certificate in Ethical Artificial Intelligence<\/strong><\/em>. The course, which involves 12 hours of learning with a series of focused modules and assessments, covers crucial topics including AI fundamentals, ethical AI practices, and risk management. Successfully completing this program grants students a CISI certification, accredited by a globally recognized chartered professional body, thereby enhancing their competencies and career potential in the finance sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This session offered students a comprehensive overview of the course content, benefits, and application process for the scholarship. By embracing ethical AI, students are encouraged to contribute responsibly to the future of finance, equipped with skills that align with both global standards and industry demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
