The Department of Information Technology (DIT) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently hosted the second installment of its premier alumni series, “BIS Alumni Global Connect,” on March 12, 2026. Held at the ITRC\u2019s Lab 07, the event served as a high-impact platform for knowledge exchange between current students and the department\u2019s accomplished alumni. This session featured Mr. Dulaj Umansha Wijesinghe, a Bachelor of Science in Business Information System (Special) graduate currently advancing his research through a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Shibaura Institute of Technology in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central focus of the session was the rapidly evolving field of Image Processing, where Mr. Wijesinghe shared his specialized expertise and academic insights. He provided a comprehensive overview of how digital image analysis is being integrated into modern business and engineering solutions, ranging from medical diagnostics to autonomous navigation. By breaking down complex technical concepts into practical applications, he demonstrated the critical role that image data plays in the global digital economy and encouraged students to explore this specialized niche as part of their professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized in collaboration with the DIT Alumni Association (DITAA), the talk underscored the department\u2019s commitment to bridging the gap between local academic foundations and global industry standards. The interactive nature of the event allowed students to gain firsthand advice on pursuing international postgraduate studies and navigating the complexities of the global tech market.
