Crime Intelligence Analysis Bureau – Sri Lanka Police
A new police unit called the Crime Intelligence Analysis Bureau was ceremonially launched on April 04, 2016 under the auspices of Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka and Police Chief N. K. Illangakoon at the BMICH. The new bureau has been set up at the Police Criminal Records Division (CRD) at Maitland Place in Colombo 7, with details of all grave crimes reported countrywide. MOU was also signed between University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Sri Lanka Police department.
This unit was established with support of the Department of Decision Sciences and the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The Project team was led by Mr. L. H. T. De S. Wickramasuriya, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Decision Sciences. In this project, Mr. Amila Wickramasekara, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Decision Sciences works as a Resource Person to train Police officers for crime data analysis. Furthermore, he is responsible to train high ranking Police officers (DIG, SSP, ASP..) as Decision makers based on the results of crime data analysis in order to control and prevent grave crimes in Sri Lanka by conducting investigations effectively and efficiently.
