The Operations and Technology Management Undergraduate Research Symposium of 2023 was a vibrant congregation of budding scholars, industry experts, and academics, fostering an exchange of innovative ideas and insights within the realms of technology and operations management.

Hosted by the Research Center for Innovation, Operations and Quality Management, Department of Decision Sciences on the 3rd of November 2023, this annual event served as a platform for final year students of the department to present their research, delve into emerging trends, and engage in discussions centered around technology and operational strategies.

Welcoming the gathering, the Head of the Department of Decision Sciences, Dr. M.W.A. De Silva, congratulated all the presenters while explaining the importance of this event. Further, she thanked Ms. Dileepa M. Endagamage, Coordinator of the Research Center and the organizing committee for organizing the event successfully. She also thanked the Undergraduate Research Coordinator, Prof. S.T.W.S. Yapa and all the research supervisors for their active participation. Dr. Silva highly appreciated the support given by the Operations Management Students Association (OMSA) in organizing this event and their active participation. Gracing the occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama, stressed the importance of updating our knowledge continuously in the specific study field as well as research methods.

The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Gayani De Alwis, Women in Logistics and Transport Global Chairperson, whose expertise in the field of Logistics Management added immense value to the event. Her speech emphasized the significance of leveraging technological advancements for enhancing supply chain resilience in an increasingly disruptive environment.

This was followed by the research presentations. An esteemed panel which comprised of Ms. Gayani De Alwis, Prof. Renuka Herath, Head of the Department of Marketing, University of Kelaniya, and Prof. M. H. A. Sisira Kumara from the Department of Public Administration, USJP, provided valuable feedback on the respective presentation and shared their ideas and suggestions to improve their work.

Ms. Chathurika Jayasooriya, the Secretary of the organizing committee, delivered the Vote of Thanks which lead to the conclusion of the event.
