“Lohitha Pooja’ 24” – The Blood Donation Campaign
The Association of Public Administration organized the “Lohitha Pooja – ’24” , A Blood Donation Campaign as an exceptional CSR project to save lives by donating blood. This aims to contribute to the entire community as a single pint can save three lives and a single gesture can create a million smiles.
The event took place on 12th March 2024 from 09.00 AM onwards at Old Board Room of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The program is scheduled to donate blood to the Narahenpita Blood Bank, to ensure a stable blood supply for emergencies and patient care. All the doctors came from Kalubowila Hospital whereas, all other nurses and other supporting staff came from Narahenpita Blood Bank.
The program proceedings commenced with the speech addressed by the Co-President of the Association of Public Administration and the speech addressed by Dr. R. P. C. K. Jayasinghe, Head of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura to officially welcome all the doctors, nurses, Public Health Inspector (PHI) and all other supporting staff members who were came from Narahenpita Blood Bank and all the honourable donors of blood.
More than 85 individuals have donated their blood, and most importantly, there were more than 60 applicants who were under the waiting list and unable to donate blood due to time restrictions. This remarks the greater success of the event beyond the way we have expected.
All the honourable donors of the blood including students, lecturers and other outside parties awarded a Mulberry Plant, a sticker and a pen as a souvenir. Moreover, all the doctors were received a gift pack and all the nurses, Public Health Inspector (PHI) and supporting staff of the Narahenpita Blood Bank also given a Mulberry plant, a Diary, a Pen, and a Key Tag as a souvenir for make this program into a greater success. Further, the event was more glamoured with the participation of Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Finally, the event ended up with a greater success saving millions of souls with a hopeful future.
