Inauguration of the Master’s in Entrepreneurship Program 2024
The Department of Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, recently held the inauguration ceremony of the 10th Batch of the Master’s in Entrepreneurship program on the 7th of September 2024. This event brought together academic leaders, distinguished professionals, and students, highlighting the growing importance of entrepreneurship education in shaping future business leaders.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, symbolizing new beginnings, followed by the university anthem. Dr. Sriyani Ranasinghe, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Coordinator of the Master’s in Entrepreneurship program, delivered a warm welcome address, emphasizing the significance of entrepreneurial thinking in today’s dynamic global economy.
Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, followed with an insightful speech that underlined the faculty’s commitment to fostering innovative programs that meet the demands of the modern business landscape. His words set the stage for the keynote speaker, Mr. Sanjeewa Vijaya Sri Nawarathna, Director and Co-Founder of Latex Lanka International (Pvt) Ltd., who shared invaluable insights from his entrepreneurial journey. The ceremony concluded with a speech by Prof. Shyaman Udayanga, the Founder Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, who reflected on the department’s journey and future aspirations.
This inauguration marks the beginning of an exciting academic journey students, who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive as entrepreneurs and business leaders in Sri Lanka and beyond.
