Empowering Growth: Students of Department of Entrepreneurship Thrive in Outbound Training Program
The students of the Department of Entrepreneurship recently participated in an exhilarating Outbound Training Program from the 7th to the 9th of April 2023. The program, which saw the participation of the 2nd Year, 3rd Year, and 4th Year batches of the department, was held at the esteemed Commando Regiment Training School located in Uwa Kuda Oya. This unique and immersive training experience provided the students with valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
One of the highlights of the program was the visit to the Sevanagala Sugar Factory, where the students were given a comprehensive tour of the facility. This not only provided them with insights into the operations of a large-scale industrial facility but also exposed them to real-world applications of the theoretical knowledge they have been acquiring in their academic studies.
The training program was packed with a wide range of activities that challenged the students physically, mentally, and emotionally. The students were engaged in organized entertainment events that fostered team building and camaraderie among the participants. Physical training, including yoga and rappelling, helped the students develop physical fitness, coordination, and mental resilience. Ice-breaking events helped students build social skills and establish meaningful connections with their peers.
The adventure exercises were a highlight of the program, pushing the students out of their comfort zones and encouraging them to take calculated risks. These exercises included situational awareness training, which helped students develop critical thinking and decision-making skills, and confidence training to boost their self-esteem and self-assurance. The hike through the picturesque surroundings of Uwa Kuda Oya allowed the students to appreciate the beauty of nature while also fostering teamwork and endurance. The evenings were lit up with a lively campfire, providing an opportunity for the students to relax and bond over stories and songs.
The outbound training program also helped students develop important life skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability. The unique challenges and activities of the program pushed students to step out of their comfort zones and discover their inner strengths and capabilities. They were encouraged to reflect on their experiences and learn from them, which will undoubtedly benefit them in their future endeavours, both personally and professionally.
As the program came to a close, the students returned to the university on the 9th of April 2023 with a sense of accomplishment and growth. They were filled with fond memories of the experiences and friendships made during the outbound training program. The skills and lessons learned from this program will undoubtedly serve them well as they continue their academic journey and prepare for their future careers.
