Establishment of Sri Lanka Forum of Entrepreneurship (SLFE)

The Department of Entrepreneurship (DoE) formed a collaboration of departments of state universities in Sri Lanka engaged in teaching and training entrepreneurship. The collaboration is titled “Sri Lanka Forum of Entrepreneurship (SLFE) which is the first-ever platform in the entire university system which provides a great opportunity to connect with universities that are providing entrepreneurship education and training in Sri Lanka. The first initiation discussion was held online in the month of March through Zoom which finalized the formation of the Forum.

Thereby, the inauguration ceremony with the expanded membership was held on 23rd of April 2021 (Friday) at the New Board Room of FMSC with the participation of Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, the Vice-Chancellor of USJ, Prof. P.D. Nimal, Dean of the FMSC, Dr Shyaman Udayanga, Head of the department of DoE and academic staff members of 9 member units of different state universities. The keynote speech of the inauguration ceremony of SLFE was delivered by Ms Shavini Fernando, founder and CEO of OxiWear Pvt. Ltd. in the United States of America.

Thereby, SLFE was formed by the DoE with the purpose of expanding the network, especially within the state university system by connecting all the academic staff members, undergraduate students as well as postgraduates students. This initiation was lead and coordinated by Ms Pubudini Liyanage, lecturer of the Department of Entrepreneurshipwhile the SLFE logo and other formalization procedures were overlooked by Mr Dhanuka Perera, Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Entrepreneurship.
