Making a Difference: Launching Phase 3 of ‘Heta Lowata Diriyak’ CSR Project”
On the 5th of April, 2024, the CEFEN Students’ Wing of the Department of Entrepreneurship at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura proudly launched the third phase of the “Heta Lowata Diriyak” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project at Thalaramba Indrasara Maha Vidyalaya in Matara. This initiative was undertaken as part of their commitment to giving back to the community and fostering meaningful connections with local educational institutions.
The event was not merely a donation drive but a manifestation of the team of students’ collective dedication to making a positive impact. Upon arrival at the school, they were warmly welcomed by enthusiastic faces and an ambiance brimming with anticipation. The team arrived equipped with carefully selected donations, including essential items for various school units, sports equipment to promote physical activity and teamwork, and tokens of appreciation for each student.
Throughout the day, it became evident that their contributions extended beyond material goods. Geeshan Mudalige, a student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences delivered a compelling motivational speech on effective study strategies, captivating the eager minds of the students. Their receptiveness and engagement underscored the significance of the team’s presence as mentors and sources of inspiration.
Towards the end it was apparent that their engagement had left a lasting impression. Students lingered, reluctant to part ways, engaging in conversations about university life and sharing their aspirations for the future. Their commitment to academic excellence and personal growth served as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of education.
The success of the “Heta Lowata Diriyak” project was not measured solely by the items donated but by the enduring connections forged and aspirations kindled. Departing Thalaramba Indrasara Maha Vidyalaya, the team of students was filled with a profound sense of gratitude, knowing that they had made a meaningful difference in the lives of the students.
As we reflect on this impactful day, we are reminded of the words of Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Through initiatives like “Heta Lowata Diriyak,” they remain steadfast in their commitment to empowering communities and shaping a brighter future for all. They extend their sincere appreciation to the students and staff of Thalaramba Indrasara Maha Vidyalaya for their warm reception and look forward to continued collaboration in the future.
