Workshop on ‘Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship and SMEs’

The workshop on “Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship & SMEshosted by the students of Masters in Entrepreneurship Program 2017/2019 batch of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce in Collaboration with Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was delivered on 25th and 26th of August 2018 at Kamvelta Holiday Resort, Kindelpitiya, Bandaragama.

The workshop focused on Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship & SMEs on its first day. Further, it consisted with four sessions, namely;

·         Session One: “Entrepreneurship Education in Sri Lanka” and “Networking & Clustering” by Dr. Janak Kumarasinghe and Dr. Premasiri Gamage

·         Session Two: “Gender Issues in Entrepreneurship” by Ms. Janaki Kathriarachchi and Ms. Dilupa Heenatigala

·         Session Three : “SME Policies in Sri Lanka” by Mr. Deepthi Mahawewa and Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake

·         Session Four : “Techno-entrepreneurship” by Mr. Harinda Danangalage and Mr. Supun Withanage

The first day ending was marked by a colorful “Paduru Party” with the participation of invitees and the students.

The second day of the workshop was organized to hold the sum up session for the course unit of Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship and SMEs which was conducted by the head of the department, Mr. Rukmal Weerasinghe. Initial discussions were done for the establishment of the Entrepreneurs’ Club in the university with the main objective of networking and clustering the entrepreneurs from the internal and external students of the department. The evening session was for the entertainment and relaxation of the participants.
