Inauguration Ceremony of SMEDSU
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Support Unit (SMEDSU) of Department of Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura organized its inauguration of the Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Programmes for the academic year 2015/16 at Professor Munasinghe Auditorium, on 03rd January 2016.
Dr. U Anura Kumara (Dean- Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce), Dr. H.E Silva- (Former Dean), Mr. R.N Weerasinghe- (Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship) and the lecturers of the Department of Entrepreneurship graced the occasion.
The courses of SMEDSU have been designed with the intention of developing the managerial know-how of the Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, managers, consultants and other interested parties so that they can effectively and efficiently face local and global business and managerial challenges. Over 175 students were enrolled for the 2016 batches in this year.
SMEDSU offers scholarships for the internal students of University of Sri Jayewardenepura to fulfill its national contribution. Accordingly 18 Gold scholarships and 14 Silver Scholarships were awarded to the students of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and another 10 Gold scholarships and 04 Silver Scholarships were awarded for the students of Department of Estate Management and Valuation in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce for the purpose of promoting entrepreneurship among undergraduates.
