The Department of Entrepreneurship conducts a series of awareness workshops called “Nawa Arunalu” aiming the school students (Grade 9 to Grade 13) under the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CEFEN). The program covers the concepts related with the entrepreneurship. Especially, this program stresses the school students to think and read the world in a creative manner. Department is planning to conduct 100 workshops under the “Nawa Arunalu 2015” to address about 50,000 school students all over the country. The department has planned to maintain very a close and long term relationship with the students to support them in their future entrepreneurial endeavors.
Significance of the Program
We can never think about a sustainable economic development of a country without an effective application of the entrepreneurship. Establishment of an entrepreneurial culture is an essential requirement to internalize the practical applications of the entrepreneurship and its related concepts. Accordingly, the main objective is to inculcate the power of an entrepreneurial mindset. The entrepreneurial traits like creativity, innovation, environmental sensitivity, internal locus of control, changing status quo, taking a manageable risk, opportunity identification, opportunity exploitations etc. have been included to the content of the program with suitable examples. Advices on career development also has included under the content of Intrapreneursip part. It will motivate students to reach their goals and objectives in an innovative manner.
The only way of gaining lost pride of the country is entrepreneurship. The only way to stand on our own foot is entrepreneurship. The only way to achieve prosperity is entrepreneurship. Hence, this is the high time to awaken the sleeping lions. That is the only way of brightening the futures of the younger generation of the nation as well as it is the sole responsibility of all of us for our mother nation. That is the message that the department plans to inculcate through this “Nawa Arunalu” program.
Contents of the Program
Time duration of one workshop is 03 hours and it mainly focuses on,
- Introduce the concept of Entrepreneurship.
- The nature and significance of an entrepreneurial mind set.
- Showing and elaborating the relationship between an entrepreneurial culture and the sustainable economic development through real world examples
- Opening up their eyes to read the world
- Inspiring students to introduce innovative practices and creative management applications
Structure and Methodology
Nawa Arunalu program consist with 10 phases and the department has planned to conduct 100 (One Hundred) one day workshops and expects to address about 50,000 of students under the in the first phase. Since there is a huge demand from schools for this program, the selected schools for first phase have been listed out. Formal letters have already been sent to the selected schools and the specific dates for the program for each school will be given after considering the convenience of both parties. Few model programs were successfully implemented and content of the program has been fine-tuned according to the feedback and responses of the students and teachers.
Every workshop will be conducted by only the Professors, Doctors, and Senior Lecturers who are attached to the Department of Entrepreneurship and the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. In addition to that, some technical experts and government representatives will be utilized time to time as per the requirement of the workshops.
In addition to the school programs, Department of Entrepreneurship has planned to conduct another 25(Twenty-five) workshops under the first phase for school teachers, parents, government servants (especially for policy makers), managers of the selected private institutions, civil organizations, etc.
