RiskLab Innovation Challenge 2026

The Department of Finance and the Students’ Association of Finance (SAF) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, in collaboration with GTN Tech (Pvt) Ltd, successfully conducted the RiskLab Innovation Challenge 2026, a flagship initiative aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world financial risk management.

The competition commenced with the Preliminary Round held on 23rd May 2026 at the New Faculty Boardroom. The Grand Finale was subsequently held on 27th May 2026 at the Port City Colombo Sales Gallery.

The Grand Finale was graced by Senior Prof. D.B.P.H. Dissabandara, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, Mr. Arjuna Nanayakkara, Chief Executive Officer of GTN Tech (Pvt) Ltd, and Mr. Shalaka Wijeyaratne, Executive Director and Deputy General Manager – Investment Promotion and Marketing of CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, together with distinguished academics and industry professionals.

Following a competitive evaluation process, Group Number 7 – Bank Liquidity Risk Studio Ultra emerged as the Overall Champions, while Group Number 1 – Volatility Studio Pro-Market Risk Analytics Platform and Group Number 6 – Credit Risk & Early Warning Studio Pro secured the positions of First Runners-Up and Second Runners-Up respectively.

RiskLab Innovation Challenge 2026 provided a valuable platform for final-year Financial Risk Management undergraduates to showcase innovative, technology-driven solutions to contemporary financial risk challenges while strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
