Snr Prof. H.H.D.N.P. Opatha Honoured with the Prestigious “Most Influential Professor” Award at the Sri Lanka Leadership Awards 2026
Prof. H.H.D.N.P. Opatha, Senior Professor & Chair of Human Resource Management of Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was honoured with the “Most Influential Professor” by the World Education Congress, led by Dr. R. L. Bhatia, Founder of World CSR Day & World Sustainability and Distinguished Professor-Sustainability Management of Indira University, Pune, India at Sri Lanka Leadership Awards 2026 (10th Edition) held on 25th August 2026 at Taj Samudra, Colombo.
Prof. Dr. HHDNP Opatha, a Litterarum Doctor, is the first Professor in HRM in Sri Lanka and the first Senior Professor and Chair of HRM in Sri Lanka. He pioneered several text and scholar books and more than 100 research articles in HRM in Sri Lanka and a set of locally and globally recognized theoretical formulations in HRM. Indeed, he is regarded as Sri Lankan Guru of HRM having 40 years of experience in active teaching for thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students and industry personnel. As a matter of fact, he is a rare academic who has been recognized with awards by other universities and professional institutes locally and internationally.
