HR Ape Senehasa – පොතක් වෙනුවෙන් අතක්
The second-year undergraduates of the Department of Human Resource Management, organized a heartwarming CSR initiative titled “Pothak Wenuwen Athak” (පොතක් වෙනුවෙන් අතක්) on 27th October 2025 at C.W.W. Kannangara Maha Vidyalaya, Halwala. The project was conducted under the course HRM 2372: Personal Quality Development, to celebrate and honour 80 years of free education in Sri Lanka.
The initiative was a heartfelt expression of the students’ gratitude for the enduring legacy of free education and their commitment to carrying its light forward. As part of the project, students extended their support to the school community by donating essential stationery and other school necessities, creating an atmosphere of generosity and shared learning. Adding depth to the occasion, an awareness session was conducted by Professor Aruna S. Gamage, who inspired the students and participants with valuable insights on personal growth and social responsibility. The day also featured a range of aesthetic and team-building activities, fostering creativity, collaboration, and connection among the students and schoolchildren.
This meaningful initiative came to life through the gracious support of generous sponsors, the enthusiastic participation of all undergraduates, and the dedicated guidance of the academic staff. Their collective effort truly exemplified the spirit of unity, compassion, and service that lies at the heart of the HRM Department. “Pothak Wenuwen Athak” stood not merely as a project, but as a symbol of appreciation and continuity—a gesture of giving back to the very system that shaped generations of learners, while inspiring a new wave of socially responsible future leaders.
