BIS students win GOLD at Sahasak Nimawum 2021

“Sanifly” an innovative project carried out by a team of Final year undergraduates following the Business Information Systems (Special) Degree offered by Department of Information Technology (DIT), Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura won the Gold medal for ICT Category at the Sahasak Nimawum – 2021” National Inventions and Innovations Competition. This competition is the National Inventor’s Competition organized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission of the Ministry of Education. The Awards Ceremony was held on October 26, 2022, in conjunction with Sri Lanka Inventors Day.
The talented project team consisted of Mr. Pramuk Hewawasam, Ms. Ishara Thennakoon, Mr. Dinuka Wiesundara and Ms. Nipuni Fernando. Project Sanifly was conceived during the Department organized D-Hack 2020 competition, where it won the first place. The project involves developing a smart washroom solution incorporating IoT and Machine Learning Technologies to uplift the life of the general public. The project was supervised by Prof. Lasith Gunawardena of the Department of IT.
