Workshop : Insights on Software Quality Assurance by Axiata Digital Labs
The Department of Information Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was honored to host an insightful workshop on “Insights on Software Quality Assurance” on the 27th of May at the ITRC 9 Lab. This was conducted under the subject ITC 3375 – Software Engineering, under the guidance of Dr. Mahesh Fernando and course coordinator Ms. U.S Samarasinghe. We were privileged to welcome the industry experts team from the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Department of Axiata Digital Labs (ADL) Mr. Buddika De Zoysa ( Head of Competency Excellence, Quality Assurance, Associate Architect), Mr. Anushka Senanayaka (Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer), Ms. Yashodhara Thalagahawatta ( Associate Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer ), Ms. Anuththara De Silva ( Associate Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer ), Ms. Ishani Vindya ( Associate Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer), Mr. Kasun Basura ( Associate Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer), Ms. Chathurika Nivanthi (Associate Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer ), Mr. Isuru Wickramasinghe ( Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer ), and Mr. Sinduwara Gunawardena (Software Quality Assurance Engineer) as our distinguished speakers. The Software Quality Assurance (SQA) session provided valuable insights into the critical role of quality assurance in the software development lifecycle. The speaker effectively highlighted modern practices, tools, and industry expectations, helping students understand how SQA contributes to building reliable and user-centric software products. A particularly enriching part of the session was the Q&A segment, where students actively engaged with the session, asking insightful questions about career prospects in QA, automation tools, and the future directions of the SQA with AI assistants based on LLM applications. This interaction not only clarified technical concepts but also motivated our final-year undergraduates to consider QA as a dynamic and rewarding career path. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect our students with industry experts and look forward to more such initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world practices.
