Field Visit to IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd

The third-year students of the Department of Information Technology from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, visited IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd, a globally renowned software services firm located in Orion City, Colombo, on May 20, 2025. A total of 55 third-year students participated in this insightful field visit, which was organized as part of the ITC 3373 – Object Oriented Programming and ITC 3375 – Software Engineering courses.the visit aimed to provide students with practical industry exposure and bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world software development practices.The academic representation from the university was led by Dr. Amitha Padukkage, PhD, while Ms. upeksha samarasinghe and Ms. Biyumi Kalpanie Jayakody coordinated the visit on behalf of the department. From the IFS side, the event was coordinated by Mr. Chamika Bandara – Undergraduate Trainee, Employer Branding- IFS R&D International (Pvt) LtdStudents participated in a series of highly informative and interactive sessions delivered by industry professionals at IFS, including:

The sessions covered a wide spectrum of topics, including career opportunities at IFS, an overview of their global product portfolio, AI applications in their solutions, and an in-depth look at the role and day-to-day life of a software engineer.
