Department of IT at the AI & Data Analytics Summit 2025

The AI & Data Analytics Summit 2025, organized by the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka Section, was held at Taj Samudra Hotel on 6th June 2025 and stands out as a flagship event in Sri Lanka’s annual IT industry calendar—bringing together thought leaders, innovators, and professionals at the forefront of AI and data science.

Participation from the Department of IT included:Dr. Mahesh Fernando, Mr. Prabhasara Athurupane, Mr. Kavinga Ellamulla, Ms. Upesksha Samarasinghe, Ms. Dulari Perera, Ms. Ganguleli Gunasekera, Mr. Kumudu Fernando, Mr. Thanuja Wickramanayake.

Engagement in such industry events strengthens the bridge between academia and practice, while also informing curriculum development, research direction, and innovation.

As part of the summit agenda, an AI & Data Analytics Quiz was conducted by Prof. Lasith Gunawardena, which captivated and actively engaged an audience of over 300 participants.
