BISVoyage 2026: From Internship to Industry: Successful Completion of the Study Program

On 20th October 2026, the Department of Information Technology (DIT), Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, proudly hosted BISVoyage 2026, marking the final official engagement of the BIS 2021/22 batch. The day brought together the final evaluations for ITC 4676 – Internship in Information Systems and ITC 4682 – Technopreneurship in Information Systems, alongside an opportunity to celebrate the students’ undergraduate journey.

DIT Staff Members with Fourth Year Students

Having commenced their academic journey in February 2023, these students entered the Bachelor of Information Systems (BIS) Degree Programme as high-achieving individuals selected from among the top Z-score performers in the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in the Commerce stream. Throughout their university education, they strengthened their knowledge of Information Systems, developed professional competencies, and built lasting friendships through academic activities, practical assignments, and projects addressing real-world challenges.

The internship viva voce examinations provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate how they had applied their academic knowledge in professional environments. Having completed internships at reputed organisations across a range of Information Systems and IT-related domains, students shared their experiences, achievements, and lessons learned. Their evaluations reflected technical proficiency, professional discipline, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication skills. Several students also received offers of permanent employment or promotions in recognition of their performance, commitment, and contributions during their internships.

At the conclusion of the evaluation sessions, the academic staff hosted students for light refreshments, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion. This gathering provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on shared experiences, celebrate accomplishments, and recognise the dedication and perseverance demonstrated throughout their undergraduate years.

BISVoyage 2026 marked both the completion of academic requirements and an important transition towards independent professional and entrepreneurial practice. Through their studies, internships, and startup initiatives, students developed the knowledge, confidence, and adaptability needed to embrace new opportunities and contribute to Information Systems, business, and technology.

The Department of Information Technology extends its heartfelt congratulations to the BISVoyage 2021/22 batch and wishes every student continued success, happiness, and fulfilment. Although their undergraduate journey has reached its conclusion, their connection with the university and the BIS family will continue.

BISVoyage 2026 was a celebration of achievements, cherished memories, enduring friendships, and the beginning of new journeys.
