
Digital SME – Community Service Project by the Department of Information Technology
The first workshop under the ‘Digital SME’ community service project was successfully conducted on the 17th of June 2022 with the involvement of Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs and the academic staff of the Department of Information Technology. The workshop was conducted with the intention of generating awareness under two areas:
- Creating a digital presence for the business
- Using social media for business promotions
The Head of the Department, Dr. Mahesh Fernando addressed the audience, explaining the background and the objectives of the project whereas Mr. Chandika Witharana of Department of Information Technology served as the key resource person of the workshop. The event was well received by the audience and following many requests received by the entrepreneurs to continue the discussion, the Department looks forward to conducting a series of workshops under the project benefitting the SME sector at large. The Digital SME project is organized by the Department’s Community Services Team – Ms. Piruni Deyalage, Ms. Sanduni Senaratne, and Mr. Prabhasara Athurupana under the patronage of the Head of the Department, Dr. Mahesh Fernando.
