First Phase of the Inter-University Finance Debate Competition 2016
A preliminary session of an inter-university finance debate competition was held on 04th November 2016 at University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The competition commemorates 15th anniversary of the Department of Finance.
Teams debated on whether efficiency of capital markets improves the standard of living.
Teams from University of Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya, University of Wayamba and University of Jayewardenepura took part in the competition. Mr. P. Asokan (Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka), Mr. Sajeewa Fernando (Perpetual Capital Holdings Sri Lanka), Dr. Sujeewa Hettiarachchi (English Department of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura), and Dr. Chandana Gunathilaka (Department of Finance of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura) served in the panel of judges.
The teams of University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Peradeniya were qualified for the grand final debating session, which will be held during the month of January 2017.
