Snehadara 2017

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” A well-known American essayist, poet and a lecturer has once stated as that about living the life by raising others.

The second year students of Department of Finance, Faculty of Management and Commerce, also wanted to lend a hand to a group of children, who lack the basic needs for education. So they launched their annual CSR project, ‘Snehadhara’ with the guidance of head of the department and the lecturers, and also with the support of other members of the Student Association of Finance.

The program was held at Porapola Junior School, Thalwita, Kurunegala on 3rd July, 2017 with the participation of the Head of the department, Prof. D. B. P. H. Dissabandara and also the lecturers Prof. Y. K. Weerakoon, Dr. P. D. Nimal, Dr. A. G. C. Gunathilake, Mr. S. D. L. Kongahawatte and Miss. U. G. Kaushalya. And also the committee members of Student Association of Finance, second year and third year students of department of Finance.

The event started with religious activities and lightning the oil lamp. After that, the donations were made to 192 students. The donations included main stationary items, school bags and also the students donated a projector, two cupboards, sports items, stationary items, musical instruments, chemicals to science laboratory and books for the library.

The event concluded successfully with happy faces of the students and the people around the area. This was sure to be a life time experience for the undergraduates of the department with a bunch of everlasting life time memories.
