Strengthening Academia-Industry Ties: Department of Finance Visits GTN Tech

The Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), recently conducted a highly productive visit to GTN Tech, a leading institution in the FinTech industry. This initiative underscores our commitment to bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice, exploring avenues for mutual collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for our faculty to engage directly with the back-office operations and leadership team at GTN Tech. The discussions focused on exploring potential collaborations, research opportunities, and ways to enhance the practical relevance of our academic programs to meet the evolving demands of the FinTech sector.
The delegation from the Department of Finance was led by Dr. Neelangie Nanayakkara, Head of the Department, along with Dr. Sampath Kogahawatte and other distinguished academics.
The Department was honored to be hosted by the leadership of GTN Tech, whose presence was instrumental in fostering a meaningful dialogue. The GTN Tech representatives included Mr. Arjuna Nanayakkara – Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Chathurika Gunawardhene – Global Head of Human Resources, Mr. Avindra Vidanage – Head of Global Middle Office Operations, Mr. Mevan Balalle – Chief Operating Officer/Head of Internal Operations, and other dignitaries.
The Department of Finance is highly encouraged by the outcomes of this engagement and the potential for future partnerships with GTN Tech. We look forward to developing concrete collaborations that will benefit both our students through enhanced practical exposure and the industry through valuable academic insights.
