
Undergraduate Research Day 2021 – Department of Business Administration
The Department of Business Administration of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted its Undergraduate Research Day – 2021 themed, ‘Transformation of Work and Organisations: Managing Challenges and Organising for the Future’, on 09th April 2021 at the University premises as well via virtual platform. The Department convened the Undergraduate Research Day for the second consecutive year with the intention of opening a forum for the undergraduates to be part of the knowledge creation and dissemination process.
Eighteen undergraduates presented their research papers on broad areas of Management and Organisation Studies under three research tracks: namely, Managing Work and Organisational Life, Managing Challenges in the Contemporary Society and Humanities & Other Studies. All the research tracks were chaired by senior academic members of the Faculty. The research papers were selected through a blind review process and the selected papers were published in the proceedings of the Undergraduate Research Day 2021.
Dr. Mangala Fonseka, Former Senior Professor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, delivered the keynote speech titled, ‘The Great Transformation-With apologies to Karl Polanyi’, in line with the main theme of the Undergraduate Research Day – 2021. Many parties graced the event including the Vice Chancellor of the University, Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. P.D. Nimal, Heads of academic departments, all the members of the Department of Business Administration and members from other academic departments. Undergraduates of the Department representing Year II, Year III and Year IV participated the event and were able to gain many insights which would be useful in carrying out their research activities in forthcoming years, thereby, in becoming a true researcher. The event was funded by the AHEAD ELTA-ELSA Project of Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
