6th Student Conference in Finance (SCF 2023)
The Student Conference in Finance (SCF) is annually organized by the Department of Finance upon its initiation in 2017 with the steering intention of providing a platform for the final year undergraduates of the department to showcase their capability in conducting research and to present their research findings to their peers, juniors, academics, and industry experts.
The 6th SCF was successfully held on the 28th April 2023 via Zoom from 8 a.m. onwards. Fifteen selected research studies of the undergraduates were presented at the conference covering subjects of corporate finance, corporate governance, portfolio management, financial management, business valuation, behavioural finance etc. Extended abstracts of these studies were published as proceedings of the conference. The Chief Guest for this event was the Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Upul subasinghe and the Guest of Honour was the Dean, FMSC Prof. P D Nimal. The keynote speaker of the 6th SCF was Prof. Wasantha Perera, Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The 6th SCF was an astounding success, thanks to the active participation of faculty members, undergraduates, and passionate alumni from the Department. The event drew in influential figures from the finance industry, including key finance personnel, who were eager to witness the groundbreaking research presented. Additionally, numerous industry enthusiasts from connected fields came together, creating an atmosphere of synergy and collaboration.
