Finance 360

Finance 360

The field of Finance has been consistently evolving and is considered a dynamic field. This dynamic field creates many new job opportunities and creates a vast amount of knowledge that should be grasped by current and potential Finance undergraduates to face the corporate sector successfully. To educate Finance undergraduates about emerging trends and skills required to face new challenges in this field, the Students’ Association of Finance initiated “Project Finance 360”.

Under this project, an Information session was held on the topic “Awareness of the character of Finance graduates, job opportunities, professional qualifications, and higher education” on the 21st of November 2021. An esteemed panel of facilitators joined the session to educate the future generation on many important areas

The panelists featured on the session were; Mr. Muditha Ranaweera, Founder President of the Students’ Association of Finance and the present Head of Internal Audits and Control, Jumbo Group; Qatar, Dr. Sajith Edirisuriya, General Manager; Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation, Cambodia, Mr. Pasan Ilangaratne CFA, Senior Financial Analyst at Guardian Fund Management Limited and Mr. Uwin Ariyarathna, Lecturer attached to the Department of Business Finance, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya. All 4 panelists being Alumni of the Department of Finance was indeed a proud moment to all the undergraduates of the Department as well as to the entire University.

The panelists highlighted the importance of soft skills, mindset, attitudes, and qualities that a Finance graduate should inculcate among themselves. The panelists also created awareness about the job opportunities, professional qualifications, and higher education paths available for Finance graduates.

The session was an interactive session where panelists answered questions raised by the audience during the Q & A session held at the end. The panelists ensured that the session was informative, and the main highlight given by them to graduates was to develop a mindset of continuous learning. The session lasted for 3 hours and ended at 1.00 pm with the participation of over 150 members.
