Guest Session on 3D Model-Based Vibration Measurement Using High-Speed Vision
The Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully organized a guest session on “3D Model-Based Vibration Measurement Using High-Speed Vision” on 13 August 2026 at 3.00 p.m. at the FMSC New Building.

The session was conducted by Dr. Kohei Shimasaki, Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Science, Hiroshima University, and a member of the Smart Robotics Laboratory. He shared valuable insights into the application of high-speed vision, 3D modelling, and computer vision technologies for vibration measurement and analysis, providing students with exposure to emerging research and innovative technological applications.
The session offered students an excellent opportunity to broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom and gain insights into cutting-edge research in smart robotics and vision-based technologies.
The session was coordinated by Professor Lasith Gunawardena, with Mr. Thanuja Wickramanayaka assisting in the coordination on behalf of the Department of Information Technology. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Kohei Shimasaki and the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for their valuable contribution towards making this an enriching academic experience for the students.
