DIT academic staff members participate in SAP Conference 2024

Mr. P.H.A.B. Shantha and Mr. Kavinga Priyasad Elamulla from the Department of Information Technology participated in the SAP Academic Community Conference India 2024 at SAP Labs, Bangalore, India, from July 22 to 25, 2024.

The event commenced with the Train the Trainer Workshops, gathering over 80 faculty members from more than 40 institutions. These workshops focused on essential SAP solutions, including S/4HANA, Signavio, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and included additional workshops on ERP Sim and SAP SuccessFactors.

The conference day on July 24, an integral part of the Train the Trainer program, attracted 115 faculty participants representing 43 institutions across India, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Australia. The agenda featured sessions dedicated to the latest SAP innovations, highlighted by keynote addresses from esteemed speakers such as Sindhu Gangadharan, MD, SAP Labs India | Head, Customer Innovation Services, SAP, and Karina Montilla Edmonds, SVP, Global Head of Academics and University Alliances. An inspiring partner story was presented by Satish Patnaikfrom SAP Tech Mahindra, and a panel discussion on Business AI, featuring Karina Montilla Edmonds, M.K. Chaudhary (Accenture), and Scott Bingley, PhD, Director of the SAP ACC (APJ) at Victoria University, provided valuable insights into the future implications of AI in the technology sector.

Additionally, success stories shared by academic leaders, including Prof. Ramesh Behl (IMI Delhi) and Dr. Viraja Bhat (SIIB Pune), illustrated the effective application of SAP solutions in enhancing educational curricula and research initiatives. A particularly well-received session on HR & Future Talent at SAP by Shweta Mohanty concluded with a partnership showcase featuring Victoria University. In the aftermath of this enriching experience, Mr. P.H.A.B. Shantha and Mr. Kavinga Priyasad Elamulla spearheaded the integration of SAP S/4HANA into the curriculum of the Department of Information Technology. This strategic initiative aims to equip students with practical experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, aligning their education with the evolving demands of the business and technology landscapes. By embedding SAP S/4HANA into academic programs, we are committed to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their professional careers.
