Factory Visit 2019
The Students of the finance department made a visit to Samanala Wewa Hydro Power Station on the 24th August 2019 with the participation of second year, third year and final year undergraduates of department of Finance. Being the 4th largest electricity provider in Sri Lanka, it is responsible for the generation of 120 megawatts of electricity. The objective of this visit was to provide a practical understanding of operational and project management aspect of electricity supply of Sri Lanka to the undergraduates.
The chief operations engineer started by providing a general overlook regarding the technology by which the plant transports and stores water as well as the generation of electricity. This was followed by the visit around the plant where students were able to obtain a good understanding of the methodology used. This was a meaningful experience for the undergraduates to learn the real world applications and management practices used.
