Field Visit to DIMO Agro Techno Park
On 12th October 2024, a group of 63 final-year students from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, enrolled in the course BUS 4369: Sustainability and Environmental Management, embarked on an educational field trip to DIMO Agro Techno Park in Lenadora, Dambulla. Organized by the course lecturers, the visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into how leading agribusinesses in Sri Lanka are integrating sustainable practices to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The DIMO Agro Techno Park, renowned for its innovative approach to modern agriculture, served as an ideal learning platform for the students. They explored various sustainable agricultural techniques, technologies for optimizing resource use, and initiatives that promote environmental stewardship. The visit underscored the company’s commitment to sustainability by showcasing how its operations align with global sustainability benchmarks while contributing to Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector.
This field trip was an invaluable opportunity for students to connect classroom theories with real-world applications, enhancing their understanding of sustainability practices within the agribusiness sector. It also emphasized the role of businesses in advancing the sustainable development agenda, particularly in the areas of environmental management, food security, and responsible production.
