Mentoring, Coaching and Counselling
A guest lecture on ‘Mentoring, Coaching and Counselling’ was conducted for the second-year undergraduates of the Department of Business Administration as part of the Business Psychology course on 02 September 2026. The session was conducted by Ms. Jayamini DS Yakdehige, an International Corporate Trainer and Leadership Coach with more than 15 years of professional experience in the field.
During the session, Ms. Yakdehige highlighted the importance of understanding the distinct roles and applications of mentoring, coaching, counselling, and training, emphasising their relevance to students of Business Psychology who aspire to become effective managers and leaders in the future. She provided students with practical insights into how these approaches can be applied in organisational settings to support employee development, performance, and well-being.
The session adopted a highly interactive and experiential pedagogy, with students actively participating in a series of group-based activities throughout the lecture. This approach provided students with opportunities to engage with the concepts in a practical manner, encouraging collaboration, reflection, and application of their learning to real-world managerial contexts.
