Reconstructing Organisational Strategy through Managerial Identities
We are pleased to announce the recent publication by our Head of Department, Dr Nayomi De Peiris, together with Prof. K.A.S.P. Kaluarachchi (University of Colombo), in Strategy & Leadership, a leading journal in strategic management and organisational leadership, indexed in Scopus.
This study explores how managerial identity work enables strategic change in resource-constrained organisational contexts. Using a qualitative case study of a Sri Lankan manufacturing firm undergoing Lean transformation, the research demonstrates how managers reconstruct strategy through identity negotiation and “rule-bending” practices. The study contributes to strategy-as-practice research by highlighting strategising as an embodied, relational and context-sensitive process shaped by socio-cultural dynamics in Global South settings.
