Applicants who possess one of the following minimum qualifications and good knowledge of English are eligible to apply for the MCom degree programme.

1. Bachelor’s Honours / Special (SLQF 6) with a class standing in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University.

2. A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) with a First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) standing in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University.

3. A Bachelor’s Honours/ Special Degree (SLQF 6) in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University with one-year post-qualifying experience in the relevant field.

4. A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University with two years post-qualifying experience.

5. A Bachelor’s Honours/ Special Degree (SLQF 6) in any other discipline with a class standing from a recognised University with one-years post-qualifying experience.

6. A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) in any other discipline with a class standing from a recognised University with two-years post-qualifying experience.

7. A Degree (SLQF 5 or SLQF 6) in any other discipline from a recognised University with three-years post-qualifying experience.

8. Postgraduate Diploma not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 8 in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University.

9. A Postgraduate Certificate not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 7 in Management and Management related discipline from a recognised University with one year post qualifying relevant experience.

10. A Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 8 or SLQF 7 in any other discipline from a recognised University with two years relevant experience.

11. A Member from one of the following professional institutes with one-year post-qualifying relevant experience;

  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka – ICASL (ACA)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) 
  • Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Association of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA)
  • Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) UK
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL)
  • Chartered Institute of Engineers (CIE) UK/Sri Lanka
  • Any other recognised professional bodies recognised by the University Senate.

12. A professional full qualification/ Passed Finalist from the following institution with 3 years post-qualifying relevant experience.

  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) – Passed Finalist
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)  Passed Finalist
  • Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) – Affiliate
  • Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka – Passed Finalist
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK – Diploma
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) UK- Diploma
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers (IBSL) Sri Lanka- Diploma
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers (AIB) Sri Lanka – Diploma
  • Chartered Institute of Engineers (CIE) UK/Sri Lanka – Associate Member or above
  • Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education (SLIATE) – Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) – four year course
  • Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education (SLIATE) – Higher National Diploma in Management / Commerce (HNDC) – three year course
  • Institute of Chartered Secretariat and Administrators – Member
  • Attorney-at-Law

13. One of the following professional qualifications with five years’ post-qualifying relevant experience.

  • Diploma in Marketing awarded by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM)
  • Professional qualification in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Personnel Management.
  • Completion of NVQ Level 07 (B. Tech) with a minimum of GPA of 3.0.

14. Any other professional qualifications not included above could be considered subject to the approval of the University Senate.
